Exploring the Future of Construction: Digitalisation and Health & Safety Insights | Professor Jennifer Whyte
Easter archives. After I finished up with my big desk re-do, it became pretty obvious that I needed something to fill the big giant hole where a chair’s supposed to go.
I’m pretty sure it was never meant to be a dining room and probably never has been one in the history of this house, but a “real” dining room is something that I’ve wanted for a long time.. And.my beloved 150 year old family dining room furniture deserves a happy home, so here’s how we made that happen, in grey and white so it could play nicely with the living room which is right off of it!.
First, let’s start with some “before” pictures from before we moved in, when we were having the house inspected, and some from this first few months we were here too.I searched through my old laptop and here are some of the pictures I found.. That paint color was really quite something.Kind of a really soft aqua accented by lots of scuff marks.
You can’t really see, but it wasn’t really much of a dining room at all for the previous owners.More of a pass-through, catch-all kinda space.
But like I said, I. needed.
For some reason in that photo you can mostly only see the ceiling. This little room re-do has been totally in the spirit of “just for now” so I can enjoy it and not pull my hair out while I’m waiting for us to be able to do some of the more major renos we’d like to do eventually.
I’ve been trying to do it using things that I can keep and continue to use and love later on down the road as well.I’m not done yet, but it’s already had much more of an impact on my daily enjoyment of my home than I ever thought it would..
The first thing I did that really made an impact was to paint out every single ugly dark brown surface in the room. That obviously completely changed the feel of the place..
